GlidePath Money

About

Hi, I’m Jeff. This is the money tool I’d always wanted.

I’ve been using money management tools for 35 years. Quicken, Mint, Simplifi, Monarch, MS Money before any of those. None of them were ever a great fit. None of them tracked 0% balance-transfer promos. None of them showed me what I needed in a way I could actually use.

And honestly — I could never quite tell what I was looking at. It all seemed so complicated to set up, complicated to view. Nothing was simple. Every tool wanted me to trust a chart without showing me where the chart came from.

I’ve also spent the last 22 years working at a banking firm, so I have a strong feel for what users like me actually want from financial tools — and a longer list of what we don’t.

So I built one.

Here’s the part I didn’t say up there. In 35 years of using these tools, the most I ever really got out of any of them was a way to see my balances in one place. Whenever I tried to use the budgeting features, the planning features, the categorization — I felt overwhelmed. I never quite understood how to set a budget up, how to keep it updated, or what the outputs were actually telling me to do next.

I think that’s part of why so many people hire financial planners. Not just for the advice — but because they sit across from you and talk you through things in plain English. They turn intimidating numbers into a conversation.

That’s the part I’m really trying to build here. Not financial advice (a real professional is still the right call for that), but the same patient, plain-English explanation of what’s happening with your money and what the numbers mean. Every chart explains itself. Every page tries to tell you “here’s where you are, here’s what you might do next.”

GlidePath Money is the money planner I’d always wanted: deep enough to actually answer the questions that matter (Can we retire at 62? Should we do a Roth conversion this year? Will that 0% BT promo bite us before we’ve paid it down?), but designed so the numbers explain themselves. Every meaningful figure can be expanded inline to show its formula, its assumptions, and where it came from.

If you’ve felt that intimidation too — not just frustration with missing features, but a deeper “I don’t know how to actually use this” feeling — you’re not alone. I was you for a long time. Maybe this is the one that lands differently.

What I commit to

  • Your data stays on your PC. No Plaid, no cloud database, no third-party vault. The architecture protects you, not us — and means the app keeps working even if I disappear.
  • Planning, not just tracking. The retirement math, the BT countdowns, the Roth conversion windows — these are the headline features, not afterthoughts on top of a tracker.
  • Every number is explainable. Click any (?) for the formula and the inputs. The app should defend its own conclusions.
  • Empathy, not judgment. Whether you're behind the 8-ball or sitting on a comfortable nest egg with the same nagging "is this enough?" question, the tool meets you where you are. The past is past — we focus on where you are now and how to get you to a better future.
  • I read every email. Send feedback through the in-app button or directly to hi@glidepathmoney.com. A human (me) answers.
